Women In Construction: An Employment Perspective

Join us for a session led by Alex Harper, an employment lawyer at Herrington Carmichael with a speciality in equal pay and sex discrimination and whose career has particularly focused on the construction sector.

Gain insight into the gender pay gap, equal pay, sex discrimination, and other crucial employment law issues affecting women in the sector. From navigating potentially unfair employment terms to understanding clawback of tuition/training costs, this session promises to empower you with knowledge and strategies for overcoming some of the potential blockers in the sector.

The session will also have a dedicated Q&A session for you to have your questions answered by Alex.

Alex Harper

Alex is a Senior Solicitor in the Employment Law team at Herrington Carmichael with experience of acting in contentious and non-contentious matters for clients from a wide range of sectors including predominantly construction, financial services and leisure and hospitality.

Alex’s specialist focus is on Employment Law issues relating to sex discrimination, equal pay and the gender pay gap. Alex advises on a wide-range of employment law issues, specialising in particular on complex Employment Tribunal litigation with a focus on employment status, whistleblowing, discrimination and neurodivergence. Alex also works with clients on all aspects of employment law including redundancies, HR policies, settlement negotiations and agreements, corporate transactions and ER investigations.

Alex joined Herrington Carmichael in 2021 following qualifying as an employment solicitor in London 2019. Alex previously worked as a commercial paralegal, trainee solicitor and newly qualified solicitor in London in international and national firms. Alex studied French and German at Kings College London prior to completing a Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice course at the University of Law.
