Our committee member and Instagram Manager Karen Rothwell has been invited to represent NAWIC London and South-East as part of the panel in this event organised by the Worshipful Company of Constructors.
Karen was co-director of a construction company for three years before moving into Architectural Recruitment in 2018 – where she currently works with AJ100 practices to find their new team members. She is also a committee member for NAWIC (the National Association of Women in Construction), which WCoC have paired with before to raise awareness and funds for their project The Image of Women in Construction.
Karen will bring to the panel her strong understanding and up to date overview of the evolving construction industry, and will be available to answer any questions.

We would like to invite you to a virtual event to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on grassroots young people and those from diverse backgrounds in the construction industry.
The event will be facilitated by Caroline Gumble, the Chief Executive Officer of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
Young people have been amongst the hardest hit by the pandemic and are up to three times more likely to work in areas where their jobs are at greatest risk. The TUC report that young females are under the greatest risk of all and are up to six times more likely to lose their jobs.
Public Consultation
The focus of the event is a public consultation of the event is to hear the views of grass roots young people and to give them the opportunity to speak to a panel of industry leading experts about their concerns. We are also keen to hear ideas about possible solutions to build the resilience needed to ensure that the industry is able to bounce back and provide young people with the opportunities that they need for a successful future.
We Want To Hear Your Views
The focus of the event is on hearing the views of young people and those from diverse backgrounds. Panel members will also be invited to share ideas, opinions and potential solutions for how to rebuild the industry post Covid-19
Expert Panel
You will get the opportunity to ask questions of our panel of carefully selected senior experts and younger people who work in the UK construction industry. These include former Technology and Construction Court Judge, Sir Vivian Ramsey and Group Commercial Director of Kier Group plc, Stuart Togwell and Ann Bentley who is a member of the Construction Leadership Council.
