She Draws: She Builds – Celebrating International Women’s Day

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) present Women in Construction: a special event at the RIBA to celebrate International Women’s Day.

This informal evening event aims to bring together women in architecture and construction, and encourage conversations and collaborations between disciplines. During the evening, there will be giveaways of complimentary tickets for the already sold out ‘Women Leaders Speed Mentoring’ event.

We will celebrate and discuss the role of women working in this industry with:

  • A film: ‘She Draws: She Builds’; revealing the experiences and insights of women working in architecture, with an introduction by producer Anna Schabel and Director Sarah Akigbogun.
  • A presentation: by NAWIC showcasing their ‘Images of Women in Construction’ project with photographer Morley von Sternberg.
  • Interactive networking & drinks break: With an opportunity to show off your creative skills in ‘DoodleCity’ whist munching on some amazing culinary treats.
  • Collective Thoughts: We will hear from women working across all sectors of the construction industry with quick-fire presentations from groups including Architects for Change, Women in BIM, Women in Social Housing, Glass Slipper Forum and more. Each group will share insights on how individuals can enhance their career development plans, and how organisations can integrate gender equality as a key part of their business strategy.

We will conclude the evening with a Q&A, networking and drinks

This is a joint event by RIBA and NAWIC.
