NAWIC Morning Tour and Breakfast: Peabody Trust Development, Holloway Park

Overview:

This is a large project on the former Holloway Women’s Prison site of 10 acres, where many contractors and apprentices are women.

Join us for a breakfast site visit at the new Peabody Trust, London Square development site; Holloway Park, on Camden Road, London N7 0JN.

This is a large development project on the former Holloway Women’s Prison site of 10 acres, where there are many female contractors and apprentices. The site will have a new 1 acre landscaped park, a women’s centre, workshops, retail premises and 985 new homes of which 60% will be affordable.The site has an important history as the prison housed many famous women including suffragettes Emmeline Pankhurst, Christabel Pankhurst, Emily Davison and Annie Kenney in c1908-1914 when they went on hunger strike and were force fed, in their fight to get women the vote. As they called out: ‘deeds, not words’.

Cost: £10.45 members, £15.87 non members, including breakfast, coffee or tea.

Dress: PPE has to be worn.

Please bring your own PPE and wear site boots. If you need to borrow PPE please email silversetchfield@aol.com, indicating what size boots you need. Please also advise us if you have a disability or if you are pregnant. This will allow our tour leaders to make appropriate arrangements and provide a safe and inclusive experience for all attendees.

What to expect. A tour of a large and busy building site, by female contractors, with details of the scheme provided. To finish with a networking breakfast on site and meeting women who work on the project.

Nearest tube station is Caledonian Road on Piccadilly line. Or bus routes 29, 253, 17, 91, 259 pass by.
