Summer Members’ Meet up

The NAWIC London and South East would like to thank those who joined us, last week, at our Summer Members’ Meet up.

Hosted by our corporate members Crawford and Company, we were able to enjoy a gorgeous sunset overlooking the City of London.

After a welcome drink, our Deputy Chair Marianna Bia, who organised the event, introduced Lee Sadowski, the Crawford’s Managing Director, who talked about his personal drive to deliver a more diverse industry and the Company’s commitment to EDI and NAWIC’s objectives. Lee also spoke about Crawford’s intention to involve their large network of SMEs in delivering their Vision.

Our key note speaker was the much admired Kath Moore MBE , Managing Director of Women Into Construction (LINK), who shared her story and told us how she joined the industry and trained a chippy. Kath also explained how their work is helping women get into our industry to help address the industries skills gap across the country.

As it has become tradition, just before returning to networking, we provided our members with an update regarding forthcoming events including the IDEAS HUB which will form part of the NAWIC National Conference in 2019.

The NAWIC National Conference will take place on the 15th of November in London and our region, London and South East, will be hosting it.

We plan to attract 200 people and want to give you a chance to reach out to the group and find a collaborator for that side project or idea you want to develop.

We thoroughly enjoyed the company of our members who gave us many ideas to better our work. Those include, but are not limited to:

1.For us and our members to share book recommendations on this blog.

2. For our Team to provide guidance to our members in matters such as Climate Change.

3.To help of our members, opportunities within our industry beyond traditional roles.

We will aim to take action on all three points in the forthcoming months… watch the space!
