Senior Adviser to Deputy Mayor (Housing & Residential Development)

Could you help tackle London’s housing crisis and increase the impact of our Homes for Londoners’ teams?

Tackling London’s housing crisis is one of the Mayor’s top priorities, and the Homes for Londoners team are working flat out.

We have secured £4.82bn from the Government for investment into affordable housing – resulting in record numbers of starts of genuinely affordable homes. We have also launched the Rogue Landlord and Letting Agent Checker, involved Londoners in taking action to help rough sleepers through two successive public-facing winter campaigns, established a £500m fund for more proactive engagement in the land market, and kickstarted a new generation of council homebuilding through the £1bn Building Council Homes for Londoners programme.

The next year is set to be even busier. We are looking for a driven and committed person, with excellent written and oral communication skills to provide direct senior support to the Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Property. You will work alongside our Homes for Londoners teams to help increase and amplify the impact of the work of our partners, managing key industry and political stakeholders and our engagement with them.

We are looking for an excellent problem solver, who is politically aware and passionate about making a positive difference to Londoners’ lives. Working directly for and on behalf of the Deputy Mayor, in this role you will work with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and will need first class relationship building skills and experience of managing communications. You will coordinate Mayoral and Deputy Mayoral visits and briefings across all areas of the GLA’s work on housing and will have programme or project management experience and an ability to understand and communicate complex policy and practical issues. Experience working closely with and advising senior politicians or comparable figures is desirable.
